A MassINC CommonWealth Forum examining the role of the state’s public and private higher education institutions in the Massachusetts economy.

We are in a “fierce, long-term competition for talent, investment, and jobs with other states, regions, and countries,” writes Richard Freeland, former president of Northeastern University, in the current issue of CommonWealth magazine. But “our state does not have – and never has had – a comprehensive strategy to leverage all our academic institutions for the benefit of the Commonwealth.”

Panelists will include:
- Richard Freeland, former president of Northeastern University
- Daniel O'Connell, Massachusetts Secretary of Housing and Economic Development
- Jean MacCormack, Chancellor of University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth
- Gloria Larson, incoming president of Bentley College and former state secretary of economic affairs
- Charles Fadel, Global Lead for Education, Cisco Systems
