Georges (Auteuil), who hosts a popular TV literary review show and his wife Anne (Binoche) who works in the publishing business, begin to receive packages containing videos of themselves and their son Pierrot (filmed secretly from the street) and alarming drawings whose meaning is obscure. At first Georges has no idea who may be sending them. Gradually the footage on the tapes becomes more personal and he starts to believe that he knows the perpetrator. Curiously and tellingly he refuses to share this knowledge with his wife, indeed he even tries to hide it. As the film progresses, the family?s personal drama begins almost imperceptibly to turn in a different direction as the film explores issues of communication and fundamental questions about guilt and how we deal with it.
