Tandy Beal & Company returns with HereAfterHere: A Self-Guided Tour of Eternity September 9-11 at the Cabrillo Crocker Theatre. This multi-media concert expertly weaves together Ms. Beal's long-term investigation of dance, text, visual narrative and illusions to create a rich mosaic of both contemporary and traditional concepts of the afterlife. If there is one, where is it located? Why is it exclusionary? Why might it be for eternity? How do we get in and what's the price of admission?

Last year's premiere performances quickly sold out --and raised thousands of dollars to support Hospice of Santa Cruz in a special benefit. Beal's show returns this year along with many related, free community events and another benefit performance for Hospice.

The performance, directed by Beal, features a mix of the poignant, the wistful, the comic, the outrageous and the chimerical. HereAfterHere features 25 dancers and actors, original music by Jon Scoville, scenic design by Kate Edmunds, Lighting by Derek Duarte, video segments by Denise Gallant, Bruce Lee, Guggenheim fellow Ellen Bromberg and galactic videos from "View From the Center of the Earth" by Joel R. Primack and Nancy Ellen Abrams.

Beal once again breaks new ground by inviting the community into the art-making process. In order to engage the community in a conversation about a possible afterlife, the website (hereafterhere.com) is a forum for the public to share their thoughts, some of which will be included in the show. Before each performance, attendees can record their thoughts about life after death and, as audience members exit the theater, that night's earlier video interviews will be projected in the lobby. This is a rare chance to participate in the unfolding of the art-making process.
