Hundreds of foodies will gather for the chance to sample some of the latest cuisine from Boston’s top restaurants and laugh with comedian Jimmy Tingle at Hearth’s 20th Anniversary event Coming Together, at the Villa Victoria Center for the Arts in Boston’s South End. Set for October 6, the event will raise money for the programs and services provided to Boston’s elder homeless population by Hearth, a national model for ending elder homelessness.

In 1991, Hearth began as a seven-woman committee called The Committee to End Elder Homelessness (CEEH), with the singular goal of ending elder homelessness. Today, over 1,500 housed elders later, Hearth has seven residences through which it provides service-enriched supportive housing to formerly homeless and at risk elders.

Participating restaurants include Aquaitaine, Blue Hills Brewery, Canary Square, Coppa, Iggy’s Bread, Meyers + Chang, Post 390, Stella Restaurant, Tico and Toro. In addition, Coming Together will display the work of up to 50 artists, whose work will visually represent the theme of Hearth’s 20th anniversary. For an additional donation of $100 to $250, attendants can also leave with a one-of-a-kind artwork. Proceeds will benefit Hearth’s programs, services, and mission to end elder homelessness.

More than 300 people are “coming together” with local celebrities to celebrate 20 successful years of finding permanent affordable housing and services for Boston’s elders. Join Hearth’s 20th Anniversary event, Coming Together, on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the Villa Victoria Center for the Arts, 85 West Newton Street, in Boston’s South End, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with complimentary beer and wine. Tickets are —$150 per person or $125 if purchased by Thursday, Sept. 22 — and available online at www.hearth-home.org. Please RSVP by Friday, Sept. 30.
