The HBCU Marching Band Hall of Fame is a showcase of historic spirit, and showmanship from America’s Historical Black Colleges and Universities Marching Bands. This year the HBCU Marching Band Hall of Fame will provide the best of the best in HBCU marching band entertainment from coast to coast. This event will be held at the Georgia Dome, Atlanta, GA on Labor Day September 1, 2008 at 1:00pm. If you’ve never seen an HBCU marching band then you’re in for a treat. These talented student performers put heart and soul into mind blowing visual displays while creating amazing music in front of crowds of over 65,000 people. The best thing about the HBCU Marching Band Hall of Fame besides the music, fun, and excitement is that a portion of the proceeds from every event will be donated to the United Negro College Fund. Along with a portion of proceeds going to the UNCF, the HBCU Marching Band Hall of Fame will also award a total of $120,000 in grants to the participating band programs.

Participating bands for this year HBCU Marching Band Hall of Fame shall be the “World Famed Grambling Marching Band” from Grambling State University, “The Human Jukebox” of Southern University, “The Mighty Marching Hornets” from Alabama State University, “The Sonic Boom of the South” of Jackson State University, “The Blue & Gold Marching Machine” from North Carolina A&T University, and “The Marching 101” of South Carolina State University.

The HBCU Marching Band Hall of Fame also provides Sponsorship to (2) two local Atlanta Public High School Band Programs, Benjamin E. Mayes High School, and Fredrick Douglas High School. Each high school is presented a $5000 Sponsorship to support funding for instruments and band participation fees for students.
