Hartlepool Dockfest 09 July 3, 2009

Dockfest ’09 is the new family entertainment event in Hartlepool. Created to provide a range of opportunities for fun, and entertainment for all, it is a standalone, must see, event in its own right, and also marks the launch pad for the huge event, The Tall Ships Races 2010 to reach Hartlepool next year.

As you might expect from the name, DockFest offers a family fiesta of dockside enjoyment. It happens on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July 2009 alongside the Hartlepool's Maritime Experience. Over two entertainment and enjoyment packed days the festival site will be packed with street entertainers and community groups all performing things that promise to surprise, stun and delight.

The Dockfest site’s centrepiece is the BigEntertainmentTent – a giant marquee where, whatever the weather, a rolling programme of community performances, and top name talent from regional indie pop, comedy, easy listening and ‘A’ list music worlds will be showcased.

And the whole event kicks off with the spectacular Community Cavalcade, the dazzling parade that opens the BigEntertainmentTent with a mass performance of a Samba-sea shanty specially written The Tallships Races 2010.
