As part of the Working Title Playwrights Playwrights &... series, Working Title Playwrights presents Hank Kimmel, performing The Last Stand of a Stand-Up Comic on the Wordsmiths Books stage.

Now that he has paid off his debt to society, Hank Kimmel is free to tell the story of a man, a stand-up comic from Providence, who was destined to become a legend in his own mind until an encounter with death propelled him in unexpected and uplifting ways. In tribute to Spalding Gray, this 45-minute autobiographical monologue traces the transformation of a stand-up comic into a playwright--and then into something much more.

Hank Kimmel is a founding member and president of Working Title Playwrights, the Atlanta-based theatre company dedicated to the development of playwrights and new plays. He is the author of 85 plays of various lengths and sensibilities, most of which take a uniquely uplifting view of human aspiration...and some of which were featured in Hank Kimmel's Shorts, the Spring 2007 production at Jewish Theatre of the South in Atlanta (winner of Creative Loafing's People Choice Award for Best New Play). Hank's goal is to have his work showcased in all 50 states, and he is halfway toward that goal. Along with Pamela Turner, Hank devised and currently teaches the acclaimed "The Kick Ass Playwriting Series" through WTP. He has also been a guest teacher of playwriting at the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT.
