Two local church choirs and a Bay Area baroque orchestra team up for robust sing-along at St. David of Wales Catholic parish

RICHMOND-On Sunday, December 19, at 3 p.m., locally renown Saint David of Wales Festival Choir will be joined by the choir at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley (UUCB) and the New Esterhazy Quartet for an exceptionally robust and always delightful Sing-Along of Handel's Messiah.

Conducted by Richard Mix, with period instrument orchestra led by Ondine Young, Ph.D., and soloists Eve Bordli, Gina DeLucchi, Betty DeOrian, Susan Hernandez, Richard Mix, Jose Luis Munoz and Erina Newkirk, period instruments and voices of every kind are welcome and encouraged to join in the sing-along/play-along.

"We are a small parish and we take great pride in our wonderful choir," says Fr. John Blaker, pastor of St. David of Wales church. "Our doors are always open to visitors and this sing-along Messiah event is no exception. We hope many will take advantage of this opportunity to savor and participate in this beautiful, live music in their own backyard! For us, our parish prayers and our concerts are our gift to the community. Come, Enjoy!"

St. David of Wales' Festival Choir includes a mix of extremely talented professionals and amateurs who sing for the love of beautiful, noble music that enriches and inspires the human soul, regardless of one's individual faith. All are welcome! Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $5, or $10 per family, if one is able.

"The most important thing is to be there!" emphasizes Father Blaker, who is himself blessed with a good singing voice and who is a great appreciator of beautiful music.
Saint David of Wales Catholic Church is located at 5641 Esmond Avenue., Richmond, near Wild Cat Canyon-just east of the I-80 between Solano and San Pablo Dam Road.
