The former Remote Lounge space still looks like an old-school Bowery dive – non-descript, windowless entrance – but the bar has assumed a decidedly hipper, more upscale vibe than its predecessor. Long-time NYC nightlife owners Mike Stutto of (Hi-Fi) and Jesse Malin (of Niagra), refit the bar with a chic black-and-purple décor, accented by sleek, horsehair sofas and antique trunks standing in for drink tables. With quality DJs and bottle service offerings, Bowery Electric risks turning a little too clubby for its own good, but thusfar it maintains a chill, comfortably crowded atmosphere with little door drama.
