October 31, 2009… Young Hollywood still flocks to Richie Akiva’s wood paneled homage to deforestation thou they may be dressed up in their Halloween best and unrecognizable to the naked eye. With its lofted space packed with youthful scenesters and a pumping soundtrack, Butter has the trappings of a nightclub, but the spot also boasts an expert New American kitchen under the direction of Chef Alexandra Guarnaschelli, a Greenmarket devotee. Each of Butter’s three rooms has a unique atmosphere and décor…

The Great Room, a bright, airy space located on the main floor, features vaulted ceilings carved in Western Red Cedar and a large photograph mural of a Birch forest, softly illuminating the room from the back wall.

The Birch Room, located on the lower level, is an intimate space with dimmed lighting, suggesting the warmth of a ski chalet. The room is wallpapered in silver birch accented with slate and offset by a delicately backlit wine-rack infusing the space with a subtle red glow.

The Gallery Lounge, a destination for meeting and socializing, is an arched promenade from the glass door entrance on Lafayette Street through to the main bar area.
