Barefoot Chamber Concerts continues its mission to help you start the weekend right. This Friday evening concert series offers great music in a relaxed setting. The series is committed to musical excellence without the formality of the conventional concert setting. Concerts start at 6 p.m. and last 60-75 minutes without intermission. Light refreshments are available, and there will be ample time to move on to other evening entertainments.

On Friday April 29, 2011, Barefoot will present Hallifax & Jeffrey (Peter Hallifax & Jule Jeffrey) and a surprise guest playing a concert of fabulously decadent French viol music by Forqueray, Dolle, Boismortier, and the ever popular Anonymous.

Hallifax & Jeffrey started with Forqueray back in 2006, and have since wandered into other repertoires (mostly of the English kind), but grand French melodrama of the early 18th century has always retained its key role in their music making.

This is the music that brought the aristocracy to the guillotine, caused the revolting peasants to burn harpsichords and eat the horses. Gilded, shameless, and technically demanding, this music is not for those who aspire to purity. There will be blood (musically speaking).

As always, the perfect wooden acoustic of St. Mark's Episcopal Church Parish Hall will provide the perfect setting for this extraordinary music.
