ABOUT THE ACTS:

May 8th

HUMANWINE, part of the new dark cabaret scene that
includes the Dresden Dolls and Tarantula, They are political, beautiful, biting and fun as hell! The
Finnish women of Kaiku sing in three-part steely vocal harmony and feature cello, accordion and percussion. Clair Muldar?s southern upbringing comes across in her absolutely open, gorgeous voice and deep songwriting. Chris Rael of the Church of Betty presents his east Asian infused solo work after a very successful Australian tour with Penny Arcade.

We are really thrilled that our favorite lyrical
hip-hop artist Illspokinn and his slammin? live band The Spokinn Movement have agreed to do one of his rare sweet jazz-tempered sets. Followed by the young yet old soul of Krystle Warren, simply of the best singers you?ll ever hear. Think Stevie Wonder, Billy Holliday and the Beatles. Fronted by accordionist Franz Nicholi of The World/Inferno Friendship Society, Guignol are part of an amazing growing gypsy Balkan punk rock party scene here in New York City. Curtis Eller is like David Byrne re-born into 1920s New Orleans as a belting banjo-beating vaudevillian. One of the most
intense performers we?ve ever witnessed.

May 22nd

River Alexandar has rediscovered the classic sweet
dreamy radio voice that used to make the ladies fall over dead. The Mad Jazz Hatters are his kicking band. The Maybelles feature the songwriting of Jan Bell, the one-woman power-house behind Dumbo?s Cowgirl Cabaret and Little Red Hen stage, and Melissa Carper, one of the most impressively rock solid bass players you?ll ever hear. Andrew Katz is ridiculous, off the cuff and
more charming than any of us can ever hope to be.
We?ve heard rumors of him standing on the back of a pick-up at a festival in Philadelphia and mesmerizing a field of punks into submission with just an acoustic guitar. Heavy Love revisits Dylan in a really fresh way. Their name is quite accurate.

Elyas Khan is royalty in dirty disguise. Having grown up in a Pakistani family in a rough part of London, he now fronts the Nervous Cabaret: Imagine Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan as a punk rock preacher. The Wiyos infuse old American songs with so much blood and delight that you?ll understand what it was like to hear this music when it was played for the first time. The Luminescent Orchestrii explode with three violins spitting out a glorious mix of Romanian gypsy music, tango and punk. Consisting of just a singer and a boy with a lap top, Project Jenny Project Jan collapse all the funkiest beats and grooves from the last 20 years into one
hilarious, smart-as-hell, party mix. And lastly The Royal Fly Catchers, fronted by cellist/vocalist Naomi Watts and bassist Jason Misik present composed and improvised acoustic punk sound-scapes that are bound to stick in your ear like a fresh roll of flypaper.
