György Ligeti: The Complete Piano Etudes October 29, 2005

Piano magician Christopher Taylor returns to Miller Theatre for an evening of piano fireworks. Taylor will perform the complete (so far!) etudes of living master György Ligeti (b. 1923). With influences ranging from African polyphony, the player piano studies of Nancarrow, and Balinese gamelan traditions, these superhumanly difficult showpieces stand with the finest piano pieces of the 20th century. This performance by Christopher Taylor will surely be one of the highlights of the season.
