Groucho - Fest April 1, 2010

A celebration of silliness will grace Marin County in early April with a never-before-seen art gallery exhibit of Groucho memorabilia, opening on April Fool's Day at the Osher Marin Jewish Community Center, a big screen showing of A Night at the Opera at the Smith Rafael Film Center on April 15th, and a live performance of An Evening with Groucho, starring Frank Ferrante at the Osher Marin JCC's Hoytt Theater on Saturday night, April 17th. Actor Frank Ferrante returns to Marin with his award winning-portrayal of America's comedy legend, Groucho Marx. A lifelong fan of the Marx Brothers, Frank has been collecting Groucho memorabilia for decades and has been the recipient of many of Groucho's prized personal possessions from his surviving family members. On April Fool's Day, at 7pm, the Osher Marin Jewish Community Center, 200 North San Pedro Road, San Rafael, will hold a free opening reception for a first ever gallery showing of this unprecedented collection of Groucho photos, artifacts and mementos. Frank will speak about the Marx Brothers and the collection and refreshments will be served. Frank Ferrante will introduce the classic Marx Brothers comedy film A Night at the Opera at the Smith Rafael Film Center at 7pm, April 15th. Ticket information is available at www.cafilm.org

On Saturday night, April 17th at 8pm, Frank Ferrante returns to the Hoytt Theater at the Osher Marin JCC with his acclaimed one-man show An Evening with Groucho. It's a fast-paced, roller coaster ride of classic jokes, wit, songs, stories, dances and hilarious improvised audience interaction in the tradition of Groucho Marx.
