GiraMondo Wine invites you to learn about and taste Greek wines at the Embassy of Greece! Greece is one of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world. Vineyards are located all over the country, from the Aegean Islands to Crete, Central Greece, Epirus, the Ionian Islands, Macedonia, and Peloponnesus. The cheap bad Retsina reputation is long gone as modern Greek winemakers have been able to bring wonderful flavors, aromas and complexity from the Greek varietals, most of the time at high price points. Greek wines are some of the most unique and interesting you will taste. At the festival, you will be able to try red varietals such as Agiorghitiko, Xinomavro, and Madilaria as well as white varietals such as Rhoditis, Assyrtiko, Athiri, the very aromatic Malagousia.

6:30pm – 7pm: Greek Wine Class (limited seating- choose Class and Tasting option when purchasing tickets!)

7:00pm to 8:30pm : Greek Wine tasting (15 wines) along with heavy Greek-style appetizers including: Spanakopita (spinach Filo), kolokithokeftedes (zucchini fritters), Tyropita (cheese pie), dolmades (grape leaves), Chicken Giro (mini-chicken pita sandwich), pita chips and dips (taramosalata, hummus, tzatziki and spicy feta mousse) as well as Baklava
There is no additional fee to sign up for the class. It is on a first come first serve basis, with limited availability.
