The Great Reno Balloon Race is free to spectators thanks to the generous support of event sponsors. It is always scheduled for the first Friday through Sunday after Labor Day. (See our Scedule of Events listed below.) Weather during that period can usually be described as benign. Dressing in layers is advised as the mornings can be chilly before dawn. But once the sun comes up the mercury rises quickly. If you forget to bring enough layers, no worries. Official sweatshirts and jackets are available at the event.
Here are some additional details about early September weather in this region.
The high temperatures usually occur in the mid-to-late afternoon (3 to 5 p.m.).
The low temperatures occur right around sunrise. This generally occurs around 6:30 a.m., give or take 10 minutes.
Cloud condition is simply the average 10th of sky cover from sunrise to sunset each day.
For up to the minute weather information please listen to KOH 780 AM Radio or watch KRNV News 4.
