The Philadelphia band Grandchildren began in 2004 as a collaboration among Aleks Martray, Roman Salcic, Tristan Palazolo and Russell Brodie. The group set out to forge an sound greater than the sum of its parts, blending horns, keyboards and electronically layered guitar melodies that were orchestrally interwoven. In their latest release the orchestral and horn-heavy rock has given way to a more meditative confrontation of the electronic and acoustic.
