Grand Opening of Black Walnut Winery's Phoenixville Tasting Room October 15, 2010

Save the date and save your appetite! Join Black Walnut Winery and the rest of Phoenixville in celebrating the Grand Opening of their Bridge Street Tasting Room. On Friday, October 15 from 5pm to 10pm, Phoenixville's Premier Wine Tasting Room will be celebrating its Grand Opening, complete with red carpet entry, free wine tastings paired with some of the best local artisan chocolates and cheeses, plus discounted wine bottles and other great giveaways throughout the evening.

Before you head to your favorite Phoenixville BYO on Friday night, walk the red carpet and stop in to pick up a bottle of one of Black Walnut Winery's delicious, home-grown wines. You'll have a chance to meet the faces behind local winery, owners Lance and Valerie Castle and Jack and Karen Kuhn. They describe their wines as "approachable" and suited to every palate from the conisseur to the everyday wine-lover. With free tastings being offered all night, it's a great opportunity to try one of their 17 varieties, two of which received awards at area wine competitions.

Situated at a beautifully-renovated property on the corner of Bridge and Gay streets in the heart of downtown Phoenixville, guests will be treated to a wide-array of festivities planned during the Grand Opening. Free tastings and amazing food pairings are the order of the evening. Wine-lovers are encouraged to arrive at the top of the hour, noting a 50-person maximum to each hour's tasting.

5pm - General Wine Tasting of Black Walnut's wide array of wines.

6pm - Wine and Cheese Pairing with Local Artisan Goat Cheeses.

7pm - Wine and Chocolate Pairing featuring Eclat Chocolates.

8pm - Fall Harvest Tasting with hot and cold Spiced Apple Wine, pumpkin bread, ginger snaps and more!

9pm - Wine and International Cheese and Bread Pairing with Brick Oven Artisan breads and cheeses.

Every hour, one lucky guest will win a gift certificate for a private wine, cheese and chocolate tasting to the Sadsburyville winery, and another guest will head home with a free bottle of Black Walnut Wine. Participants will also find discounts on bottles of wine including: buy 6 bottles or more and receive 1 bottle free...and buy 4 bottles or more and receive 2 free tasting cards. The evening's grand prize giveaway will feature a private Wine Tasting and Catered Dinner for 4.

“The comment we get a lot is that our place is so welcoming,” said Valerie Castle, who confirms their tasting room location is just as approachable. “Some people feel that if they don’t have wine knowledge, they can’t even ask questions,” she said. “We don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable. We are here to offer them as much as they want to learn.
