Grand Opening Celebration for the Aislinge Gallery of Fine Art - October 10th

Lake Geneva will welcome the Aislinge Gallery of Fine Art located at 647 W. Main Street in the North Shore Pavilion with a Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, October 10th from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. An artist’s reception will be held from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The new business is owned and operated by Mary J. Abbott of Elkhorn and will feature Mary’s award winning oil paintings in addition to the works of other area artists including Ken Cottingham, Nancy Mancuso, Marcia Koehler, Jeanne Dyer and Roald Molberg. Media includes original oil paintings, watercolors, lithographs, photographs, wood sculptures, pottery and ceramics, as well as prints.

Aislinge is the Celtic word for vision. The opening of this gallery realizes a lifetime dream for Mary, who has been studying painting from Ken Cottingham, an oil painting instructor at the Geneva Lake Art Association for the past three years. Mary has received two Grand Champion awards as well as several blue ribbons at the Walworth County Fair for her oil paintings. The painting “Chicken Feed” was included in the Racine Vicinity Show at the Charles A. Wustum Art Museum.

Mary was selected as the M & I Bank “Artist of the Month” in March of 2009 as well as being chosen to participate in this year’s Geneva Lake Art Association “Art in the Park” juried show in August.

“My paintings are depictions of life – fleeting moments of time that spark the imagination, tell a story and evoke emotion. I strive to create art that touches the viewer on a personal level.”

Mary specializes in painting customer “requests”. Requests differ from commissions in that the subjects are usually scenes of places that are special to the person making the request and the paintings are done to their specifications. The colors chosen by the individual can be incorporated into the painting to make it a truly personal work of art. Area designers are encouraged to contact Mary and work with her to fulfill unique client requests for decorative artwork.

In addition to displaying her work at the Aislinge Gallery of Fine Art, Mary also invites you to visit the Government Center on the square in downtown Elkhorn where she will have her work in the Walworth County Arts Council display case during the month of October, the Brick Road Gallery in Delevan, Essential Yoga in Elkhorn and the Geneva Lake Art Association in Lake Geneva, WI.

Gallery hours are Thursdays through Sundays from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm , by appointment and by chance. For more information please contact Mary at 262 248-2158 or email her at [email protected].
