When it comes to wine, France is unique. Few other countries can match its quality and diversity. While some of its regions, like Bordeaux and Burgundy, produce rare and very expensive wines, there is far more availability of value-priced wine from little known regions throughout the country. Learning everything there is to know about French wine would take several lifetimes, but to understand and appreciate it begins with a simple taste.
We focus on some of the “not B&B” regions from the South of France in March. The whites are aromatic and rich, and the reds, generally Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Carignan, tend to be full-bodied and hearty, featuring peppery, "meaty" and even "gamey" flavors. Many of the wines of the region are rustic and quaffable (and generally affordable, even given the rising Euro); but the standout wines take second place to few others in terms of quality, elegance, age worthiness ... and price.
We are pleased to present Jeff Graff of Vintner Select, representing some stellar examples from the South of France, specially paired with a menu from Grovewood’s award-winning kitchen. All wines will be available to add to your collection at State Minimum Retail Pricing, with case discounts available.
