real person, more like an item for something that nevertheless posessed
personal characteristics.
he was said to be a gambler. a happy go lucky. charming. some kind of
gypsie at heart. he deserted and fled the nazis three times, trying to
make his way home from the ostfront to see his young wife giving birth
to the child he knew was underway. again and again they caught him
somewhere and stood him back into battle, the times they could efford to
just kill their own people being past.
like many others he was used as a human mine detector and never once saw
my mother being born....
