The Forum for Emerging Environmental Leaders is a workshop for young people between the ages of 18 and 25 to be held March 14, 2008, as a side event to the GLOBE 2008 Conference in Vancouver. The Forum will focus on engaging the next generation of policy thinkers, entrepreneurs and community actors – it’s about new talent, ideas and actions – people who will build the businesses and solutions for the 21st century environment.

The Forum is an initiative of ‘Connecting Environmental Professionals’ – the Vancouver Chapter of the Young Environmental Professionals group, The Delphi Group, University of Waterloo’s Centre for Environment and Business, and the GLOBE Foundation. The event builds upon the success of the EECO Forum for Emerging Environmental Leaders held in Toronto in June 2007 which successfully drew participants from around the country to engage in environmental issues and action.

Partnership is essential to the success of the GLOBE Forum for Emerging Environmental Leaders. The Young Environment Professionals is a 2000-person network of young leaders in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Ottawa, and the Connecting Environmental Professionals – the Vancouver Chapter is the key not-for-profit delivery partner for the Forum.

The Centre for Environment and Business at University of Waterloo currently has 300 undergrad students enrolled in its Environment and Business coop degree. The program equips youth with tools, know-how and experience for business sustainability.

The benefits of the Forum for Emerging Environmental Leaders include:

* A network of emerging leaders;
* Exciting and high profile speakers and panelists;
* An executive mentorship program; and
* Employment and community project ideas for the emerging leaders to implement when participants return to their communities, post secondary institutions or workplaces.

The Forum for Emerging Environmental Leaders is a professional, practical and productive way to engage the next generation of business, policy and community leaders.

Those wishing to attend the forum should complete the attached application by March 3rd, 2008; successful applicants will be notified by March 5th, 2008.
