Today there are 1.5 million adults and children living with HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia; 21.5% of the adult population suffers from this pandemic in South Africa; and over 600,000 children have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Zambia.Our Global Festival will celebrate many diverse cultures, and will include: * International Food Festival * Art Exhibitions * Cultural Cabarets * A Silent Auction * Raffle Drawings * A talk with Dr. Joanna Rubinstein, Director for Global Health and Science Initiatives at the UN Millennium Project * and much more! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the HERO campaign, which helps strengthen African schools to provide quality education and to meet the basic needs of HIV/AIDS-affected children. HERO strives to better the lives of these children by providing comprehensive, holistic school-based support. They provide health and nutrition, infrastructure, water and sanitation, crisis support, capacity building, psycho-social support, and school resources.In today's increasingly globalized world, it is imperative for all nations to work together in the fight to eradicate HIV/AIDS.
