The innovative Nordic world music quartet Gjallarhorn (pronounced YAWLER horn) will appear in concert at the Williamsburg Library Theatre on Friday, September 15 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be reserved with a Visa or MasterCard by calling (757) 259-4070. This is another in the library's Dewey Decibel Concert Series.

Finland's Gjallarhorn are among the leading lights in the lively folk scene of Scandinavia - one of the world's most musically interesting areas. Gjallarhorn's talented performers offer the listener a personal, punchy, nuanced sound-world ringing to the echoes of ancient Scandinavian folk traditions. The quartet features Jenny Wilhelms on vocals, Adrian Jones on fiddle, Petter Berndalen on percussion and Goran Mansson on the sub contrabass recorder. Their innovative combination of instruments creates a fascinating landscape around medieval ballads, hymns and whirling minuets.

As one of the leading exports within the field of roots-based Nordic folk rock, the group has been feted in many countries, with honors including the French magazine Le Monde de la Musique's Choc award and the European folk publication Trad Magazine's Bravo award.
