Beverly Blettner has been named the 2008 Woman of Vision by the Midwest Eye-Banks, Chicago. Long-time friend of the Eye-Bank, Beverly will be honored at the annual Gift of Sight Gala on Friday, April 25. This popular black tie event will be held at The Peninsula Hotel and will include an elegant dinner, dancing to the music of Stanley Paul and his orchestra, as well as a fabulous silent auction. Randy Hano and Amy Wimer are co-chairs of this year’s Gala that benefits the Eye-Bank’s innovative Eye and Vision Research Program and invaluable Donor Awareness Public Education Program.

Founded in 1947, the Eye-Bank in Chicago has been helping to give the Gift of Sight by promoting eye donations across the state. The mission of this non-profit organization is sight restoration. The Midwest Eye-Banks in Chicago and Bloomington serve the northern two-thirds of Illinois and provide over 95 percent of all corneal tissue used for transplant by Illinois citizens. In 2006, they provided nearly 1,517 corneal tissues for transplant.
