Successful planting depends on properly preparing the roots of a tree or shrub before it goes in the ground. In this lecture/demonstration class, Chris Ingram will cover: the biology of roots * how to examine and evaluate nursery stock * what roots to prune and how to do it * what kind of hole to dig * proper planting technique * and how properly to transplant an existing tree.

Chris Ingram is an ISA Certified Arborist and Professional Aesthetic Pruner. Among other things, he is an Assistant Instructor at Merritt College in Oakland and for the Master Gardener Program in Marin. He is a graduate of Merritt College Horticultural Dept. with special emphasis on Aesthetic Pruning, also, City College of SF and Strybing Arboretum "Master Pruning Program." With 30+ years of experience in field of arboriculture and pruning, Chris is an expert in his field. Chris and his wife own an historic olive orchard in Butte County, CA., and he has planted and maintained numerous fruit orchards in and around the Bay Area. Chris owns and runs "Mr. Prune Tree Care" in San Francisco providing full range of arboriculture services including planting, early training, pruning, diagnosis, rehabilitation, and consultation services.
