Gamble Garden - Fall and Winter Garden Maintenance with Ella Ancheta November 5, 2010

Fall is a great time to wind down the growing season with preventive maintenance and to plan ahead for spring. Ella Ancheta, Gamble's Garden Manager, will cover fall garden clean up, soil preparation, mulching, tool maintenance, and plant division. Looking ahead, Ella will show us how to assess our gardens with a professional eye - what looked good this year, what failed to thrive, where are the holes - and how to plan for spring. Sources for bulbs, seeds, and plants will be provided. Weather permitting; we will be outdoors for some of the time.

Ella Ancheta has been the Garden Manager at Gamble for the past two years. She is a graduate of the Ornamental Horticulture program at Foothill College and is quite familiar with the soils and micro-climates of the Bay Area and with Gamble Garden in particular, as she worked here part time for several years before taking the position of Garden Manager.
