GALLERY 1261 is pleased to feature new works by Hollis Dunlap, Ulrich Gleiter, Marc Hanson, Jeff Legg, Derek Penix, and Aaron Westerberg, each of whom have recently joined the gallery’s stable of artists. The show runs from April 19 through June 1, 2013, with an opening reception on Friday, April 19, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

These six new artists have come together in one show, expressing a wonderful breadth of subjects from mid-western landscapes to intimate interiors and figurative works to lush still lifes. German born, Russian trained Ulrich Gleiter delivers heavily impasto landscapes, painted plein air at locals favored by many of his artistic heroes. Jeff Legg, best known for his dark, moody still life treats inanimate objects as Hollis Dunlap approaches the figure, with mystery and quiet intimacy. Hanson, Penix and Westerberg add greatly to the new works found in this show with a strong sense of place, developed with painterly, rich and imaginative brushwork.
