The festival that redefined electronic music festivals in Australia this year returns with yet another breathtaking line up that takes in not only the biggest and most defining names in electronic culture at the moment, but some of the world’s most spectacular live acts as well.

Headliners don’t come much bigger than N*E*R*D and Basement Jaxx. And here at FMF HQ we’re proud to announce that not one but both names will grace Wellington Square, headlining the festival come March next year.

N*E*R*D front man Pharrell Williams is more than just one of the world’s most famous producers and frontmen, he’s one of the most respected and charismatic enigmas on the planet. Of N*E*R*D he’s said: “N*E*R*D stands for No-one Ever Really Dies. The Neptunes are who we are and N*E*R*D is what we do. It's our life. N*E*R*D is just a basic belief, man.”

Add to that sexy, Brazilian, electroclash outfit CSS; the legendary and pioneering Paul Oakenfold; breathtaking French live act Etienne De Crecy (check out some of his youtube footage!) ; Ed Banger’s Mr Oizo; the Swedish House Mafia’s Steve Angello AND Sebastian Ingrosso; the return of DJ Mag 100 Top Tenner Markus Schulz and many more – and you have yet another giant leap forward for dance music festivals in Australia.

Voted BEST EVENT at the Sony inthemix50 in August (and nominated just this week for Best Festival in the Perth Dance Music Awards), the FUTURE MUSIC FESTIVAL 2008 was the second biggest festival in Western Australia this year after the Big Day Out. More than 23,000 satisfied punters can’t be wrong, and in line with presenting the most cutting edge artists, sound, visuals and aesthetics, in 2009 the Future Music Festival has again upped the ante in presenting you with a unique vision of the coming age of electronic and dance music. The Future begins here
