Gallery Hours: daily through April 4Events at Stanford CLOSE PRINT
Photography: "Fusion 19: An Exhibition by Bay Area Photographers"

From altered visions of butterflies to luminous botanicals, stargazing to dollebrities, the wonders of an infra-red world to the uninhabited polar regions of Antarctica, desolate buildings and old trollies in San Francisco to sandy California beaches, Bay Area organic farms to the populous streets of Florence and Paris, the spectrum of images in Stanford's Continuing Studies Art 44 group show will hold your gaze.

For the 3rd year, the varied portfolios of Stanford's Continuing Studies Art 44 class will be represented at Modernbook Gallery in Palo Alto. Last year's reception brought over 500 guests to the gallery and this year we hope to break that record. Candidates are juried into the class, which is taught by Brigitte Carnochan. Photographers learn how to select works, publicize, and prepare for a show, and Mark Pinsukanjana and Bryan Yedinak, the owners of Modernbook Gallery, help to explain the business aspects of the fine art world.

From traditional silver gelatin prints to computer pigment prints, this show contains all the elements that make photography a fascinating and evolving medium. One example of the creativity, ingenuity, and inspiration of all these emerging artists is Brian W. Tobin's “Overexposed” florals, which glow from the walls to show his subjects' natural vibrancy and delicacy. Other artists show us trails of stars, ghost towns, and showcase a photographic spectrum that engages, excites, and amuses the art enthusiast.
