Conflict happens, especially in times of uncertainty and turmoil. While we cannot control the circumstances, we can control ourselves. In the midst of a conflict, someone needs to take the high road. Wouldn't it be great if that person were you?

Positively resolving conflicts requires more than fighting it out, running away or poking fun-common reactions that only escalate problems-instead, try a more constructive approach. Learn to create an environment where people can resolve conflict without fighting, and a tried-and-true system for facilitating resolution when you need to step in. If you've ever found yourself stuck in the middle of two feuding employees, it's time to get unstuck, and:

-Identify common behaviors that arise during conflict and why the Assertive Approach is the most effective
-Use two problem-solving models to address different magnitudes of conflict
-Objectively address concerns using the "describing" tool
