The library has lined up four fabulous writers for a series of workshops for the beginning (and not so beginning) writer ... and they're FREE!

Registration is required and begins 3 weeks before each workshop - space is running out in our first workshop, so register today

Our first in this series is happening this Saturday, March 1st 1-4pm.

Short Story 101 is being led by Stevan Allred, a prize-winning writer whose fiction and nonfiction has been published in more than two dozen journals. He has been teaching people the craft of writing in a variety of settings for 15 years and co-edits the Portland-based short story e-journal The Intentional Ducati.

What, exactly, is a short story? How do you begin to write one, and what do you do with it when you're finished? This three hour course will address the basic things you need to know to write and publish a short story, with an in-class writing assignment to get you started on one. Open to writers of all skill levels.
