The charity WORLDwrite with its online news channel WORLDbytes, are offering a unique opportunity for new volunteers to join young documentary crews to plan and shoot short films and programmes on the suffragettes- the women who fought for and won the right to vote for women and their activities in London, starting with the life of activist & revolutionary Sylvia Pankhurst. This project with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund Young Roots programme, will provide free film training sessions for young people aged 16-25 interested in investigating and broadcasting the suffragette story. The first training session for this project takes place over 3 intensive days on Friday 9th, Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th April 2010 in East London and will cover camera work, lighting and sound as well as practical shoots for the project. No experience is required, but to take part in the free training applicants must be available for all three days of the course. There will also be regular crew meetings to plan out films and applicants should attend as many of these as possible to get to know the issues, discuss scripts, historical research, reconstructing ‘suffragette’ scenes and more. The next crew meeting will take place on Wednesday 3rd March at 7.30pm at the WORLDwrite Centre in Hackney, London E5. Places are limited so book now to avoid disappointment by applying online at http://www.worldbytes.org/training-booking.html
