McKiNNEY, TEXAS (April 5, 2009) -- Laura Bartlett’s popular Four Funny Females stand-up comedy show returns to the McKinney Performing Arts Center, 111 N. Tennessee, on Saturday, April 11 at 8 p.m.

The show, which spotlights four local/regional female stand-up comics, has been playing to rave reviews and an increasingly packed house in historic downtown McKinney since the first show in 2008. The Dallas Morning News called McKinney “the new Comedy Central” and QUICK called the show “She-larious!”

“We’re bringing comedy to the burbs,” says Bartlett, who adds that the April show, falling on Easter Weekend, is a perfect entertainment option for area residents with visiting family and friends.

“It’s been a great girl’s night out event in the past,” she says. “This weekend’s show is a good chance to introduce your out-of-town friends to historic downtown McKinney ’s unique restaurants and shops and then catch a show that we like to say is 99 percent nice and one percent naughty.”

Bartlett will be joined on stage by series regular/headliner Linda Stogner and opener Jodi Hadsell, who made her debut with the group at March show. Dallas stand-up comic/actress Jan Norton will fill in for Sherry Belle, who had a previous commitment.

Norton has performed at theaters, comedy clubs and colleges throughout the country. Locally, she has performed at the Addison Improv, Hyenas and is a regular at Backdoor Comedy club, where she is also a co-founder, with Stogner. Norton’s friendly style and unique brand of humor has made her a crowd favorite everywhere.

Norton’s acting chops have been on display on numerous stage, television, commercial and film projects. Most recently, she was featured in the film “Losing Faith,” starring Terry Eisner, and in the independent film, “Bit Parts,“ directed by Michael McWillie. She can currently been seen in the play “Driven to Murder” with the Murder Mystery Players. Her other work includes a principal role in the nationally syndicated television series “Guilty or Innocent.” She also worked on the made-for-TV movie, “Skyward,” directed by Ron Howard. In addition, she had a major part in the theatrically released horror film, “Screams of a Winter Night, “ where she proudly admits she lived in the end. She has acted in productions at the Pocket Sandwich Theatre and has been a regular performer with the Murder Mystery Players for the past 15 years.

“Jan’s a comedy pro,” says Bartlett . “We’re thrilled that she was able to fill in for Sherry this show and be one of the girls!”
