Simple, profound and touching, this incredible directorial debut from Kim Rossi Stuart has received an abundance of praise. Two young children and their father form a strangely united and courageous family after being abandoned by the most important woman in their lives, their mother and wife. For the three, an almost routine peace has settled over their motherless home. Until Stefania’s sudden return - she reappears just as recklessly as she had departed, upsetting precarious equilibriums and defences, churning up buried pain. The viewer is privy to all of this through the eyes of her eleven year old son Tommy, who has a secret refuge high above the city. Across the rooftops, like a magic tightrope walker, he leaps. Tommy walks that vast yet fine line between childhood and manhood. Winner of the C.I.C.A.E Award at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. In Italian with English subtitles.
