Our growing dependence on electronics—at home and at work—has created an enormous environmental challenge that increases as rapidly as technology advances: electronic waste. Discarded electronics—telephones, radios, TVs, computers, and appliances—threaten our environment because of the hazardous materials they contain. Heavy metals can leach into landfill soil and then into our underground water supply, causing severe and even life-threatening illnesses.
By recycling, we protect our community,
reduce the waste stream,
and provide used materials for new products.
