Keynote Speakers: Professor Peter Brüggemann of the German Sport University, Cologne, Germany and an introduction by Professor Chris Nester, Research Centre Director, University of Salford.

Seminar is aimed at: qualified and undergraduate podiatrists, orthotists, physiotherapists and sports specialists and students who are interested in training shoe technology.

Seminar Focus: the application of foot and ankle biomechanics as it applies to clinical practice, sports performance and footwear innovations. Professor Brüggemann will give a lecture and
is a leading international authority on foot and footwear biomechanics.

Seminar Content: Professor Brüggemann directs the Institute of Biomechanics and Orthopaedics at the German Sports University and has an outstanding research record working on both
clinical and industry projects, including work on a range of footwear innovations with Nike.

The Institute holds research and educational activities in clinical, occupational and sport
biomechanics to examine the mechanical loading of biological tissue during exercise, work and daily life which will be discussed at the seminar.

Following the lecture, Professor Nester et al will look at recent research on the effect of foot orthosis of foot kinematics. Finally, Professor Nester and PhD student Daniel Parker will also be looking at new research into the biomechanics of the soft tissues on the plantar surface of the foot.
