On the other side we have obesity, genetically-modified foods, Michael Pollan, and Fast Food Nation. How does Jewish tradition inform contemporary food issues and how does the way we eat today shed fresh light on our ancient tradition?" In this eight-week course, explore the intersection between Jewish food traditions and the current discussion raging about food, the environment, and sustainable lifestyles. Discuss gratitude, mindfulness, and the practices of meditative eating and blessing food. Find out what bread has to do with civilization and what Judaism and contemporary psychology have to say about eating together.
