Foo Fighters returns to the MAC on tour in support of their most recent album, Wasting Light. Opening acts will be Motorhead and Biffy Clyro. Foo Fighters founder and front man, Dave Grohl, has been playing guitar and writing songs since his early teens. In 1990 he joined the band Nirvana as a drummer, but all the while was writing and recording original songs of his own. About a year after Kurt Cobain's suicide in 1994, Foo Fighters were formed. Their signature sound merges loud, heavy guitars with beautiful melodies, some punk and sharp songwriting. Since the band's self-titled debut album was released in July of 1995 they have racked up four Grammy® Awards, numerous certified platinum and gold albums and even more chart topping hits such as "This is a Call," "Big Me," "Best of You" and "Everlong." In 2007 their sixth album, Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace was released with two successful singles: "The Pretender" and "Long Road to Ruin". In December of the same year, the band received five Grammy® nominations including Album of the Year for Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace and Record of the Year for the single "The Pretender." Foo Fighters has a new single out, "Rope," that will be on their new album Wasting Light that is set to be released on April 12, 2011.
