Nationally Recognized Lakewood Folk Artist Johanna Parker at the Lakewood Cultural Center

The Artisan Showcase and Lakewood Cultural Center invite you to a special holiday treat! Meet nationally acclaimed folk artist, Colorado Art Institute graduate, and Lakewood resident Johanna Parker from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, in the Lakewood Cultural Center lobby, 470 S. Allison Parkway. Johanna will be available to visit with patrons and sign her ornaments, which are reproduced from her originals, and are available for purchase. Additionally, Johanna will have on display some of her favorite original creations from her personal collection.

“My holiday characters are created with a nostalgic, vintage appeal. Each is hand-sculpted, painted and often dusted with mica and bits of tinsel for that added magical shimmer. Favorite creations are bauble-shaped snowmen and Santas, both free-standing and dangling or clip-style ornaments to decorate the tree,” Johanna says. ”Inspiration for Christmas creating often comes from my ever-growing collection of old mercury glass bauble ornaments. Their aged colors, pattern and patina capture my imagination. Vintage Art Deco era holiday finds along with family hand-me-downs resurface each year at the holidays and help to spark a new batch of Johanna Parker Design winter delights as December rolls in.”

Parker has been featured in more than 25 national magazines including “Better Homes & Gardens”, “Phyllis Hoffman” “Celebrate,” “Country Sampler,” “Studios,” “Midwest Living” and others.
