Folk Art From the Permanent Collection May 15, 2009

Explore the power and diversity of southern folk art through works from the Art Museum's permanent collection. Pieces from larger yard art installations, including the recently acquired Pumpkin in Wheelbarrow by Virginia artist Miles Carpenter and Crowned Fence by James Harold Jennings, contrast with spiritually-centered works concerned with life and mortality such as Leroy Almon's painted relief Mr. and Mrs. Satan Fishing and Georgia Blizzard's ceramic Memorial Box.
