Natasha Dikareva: sculpture, installation
Vladimir Dikarev: paintings, drawings
September 9 -- October 15, 2006
Reception with the artists Saturday, September 9, 7–9:30 pm

Over the last decade, the father-daughter team from Ukraine has put together several impressive exhibitions, both in Europe and in the USA.

Natasha's new installation includes floating transparent panels with figures among shattered tiles. Natasha emphasizes the fragility and vanity of all things by conserving fragments of different cultures inside the modern polystyrene.

The fluid, dreamlike shapes and colors of female figures, landscapes and ancient ruins of Vladimir's works entice the viewer to look closer. One discovers a universe of romance and tragedy, quiet contemplation and fantasies long forgotten. Paradoxes and multiple meanings are embedded into a handful of recognizable images on the canvas.

Despite different media, the works of Natasha and Vladimir are common in their very fundamental: the depiction of the universal values of human culture via charged symbols.
