Flag Raising Ceremony June 21, 2010

Orkney will be flying the flag for HM Armed Forces from Monday June 21 to Monday June 28 as part of the annual Armed Forces Day to be celebrated all over Britain on June 26.

The Armed Forces Day flag will be hoisted at a ceremony at the Territorial Army base at Weyland Park, Kirkwall at 10.30am on Monday June 21. Orkney Islands Council will also fly a flag from the Town Hall for the week, along with some community councils around Orkney and the British Legions in Kirkwall and Stromness.

Refreshments will be provided by the Council and Territorial Army. The Royal British Legion will have a veteran present at the ceremony to raise the flag.
