Latin Ballet of Virginia will perform on the street, offer free salsa dance lessons.

Join Richmond CenterStage for an evening of traditional dance music from Latin America with the Latin Ballet of Virginia. Director Ana Ines King, recognized as an “Ambassador of Dance and Culture” by Southern Living Magazine, will lead free salsa dance lessons for anyone who cares to give it a try. Live music will be provided by the band Timbason la Original. There will also be a cash bar with beer, wine and margaritas, along with a free taco bar. It’s all at First Fridays East, part of the city’s must do downtown nightlife and cultural event.

5 p.m. – Program begins

·Timba (traditional music from Cuba): "La Madrina”

· Reggaeton (traditional dance and music from Puerto Rico)

· Audience Participation – Teaching Mambo and Reggaeton

· Cumbia (traditional music and dance from Colombia): “Caballo Vieja & La Negra Tomasa”

· Salsa (popular dance and music originated in Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Venezuela): “Lloraras”

· Audience Participation – teaching Salsa with "La Caraquena"

· Bolero (Cuban music and dance): "Quiereme Mucho"

· Son de Loma (Traditional music and dance from Cuba)

· Bolero and salsa: "Lagrimas Negras," "La Negra Tiene Tumbao," and "El Pregonar"

· Merengue (traditional dance from the Dominican Republic): “Morena Ven”

· Audience participation – Teaching Zumba (Latin-style fitness program)

6:40 p.m. – The same program will repeat and end at 8 p.m.
