“Supporting an event like the Fight For Air RUN/WALK is a commitment I welcome and I strongly encourage local corporations to form teams and support the ALA.” said Ted Welding, 2010 RUN/WALK Corporate Chairman and Executive Director of Kindred Hospitals – South Florida. Kindred Healthcare is a leader in taking care of long-term respiratory patients and is a presenting sponsor for the event.

The American Lung Association's Fight for Air RUN/WALK raises money to fight lung disease in all its forms through education, research and advocacy. Why? The statistics are staggering. Lung disease is the number three killer in America, responsible for one in six deaths. Lung disease and other breathing problems constitute one of the leading causes of death in babies younger than one year old. Today, more than 33 million Americans are living with chronic lung disease such as asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) otherwise known as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Whether it’s searching for cures, keeping kids off tobacco or fighting for laws that protect the air we all breathe, the work of the American Lung Association helps to save lives every day. As a result of these alarming statistics we are holding our 10th Annual Fight for Air RUN/WALK.
