HPL invites all Houstonians to join together to read Rudolfo Anaya’s “Bless Me, Ultima” for the annual The Big Read Books on the Bayou: Houston Reads Together Program. The program cultivates a culture of reading in Houston by encouraging people to visit libraries, bookstores, community centers, homes, churches, and schools to discuss the featured book.

The Fiesta Literacy and Information Fair will held on Saturday, September 8th at 11 a.m. to kick off The Big Read Books on the Bayou: Houston Reads Together Program. The fiesta will include food, crafts, giveaways, and music by Los Trio Latinos and John Acevedo. At 1 p.m., Mayor White will kick of the citywide program. This event will be held at Park Place Regional Library, 8145 Park Place Blvd. 77017, 832-393-1970.
