SOMArts Cultural Center presents Feast of Words: A Literary Potluck, a monthly dinner party where writers and foodies come together to eat, write, and share. Join co-hosts Lex Leifheit & Irina Zadov the first Tuesday of each month to discover local chefs and writers, bring a dish on our monthly theme, and participate in our creative competition for edible and literary prizes!

March's theme is "Unsaid" and features literary guests Bill Berkson and Micah Ballard, as well as local culinary artist Yasmin Golan. House opens at 6:30pm and space is limited. This month's event will also include a creative competition of on-the-spot writing inspired by the theme.

Literary Guest Bill Berkson's recent books include BILL, with Colter Jacobsen; Lady Air; Portrait and Dream: New & Selected Poems; Not an Exit with Leonie Guyer; and a collection of art writings, For the Ordinary Artist. From 1984 to 2008 he taught art history and literature at the San Francisco Art Institute.

This month's second literary guest, Micah Ballard, was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and lives in San Francisco. Recent books include Evangeline Downs, Easy Eden, Parish Krewes, Poems from the New Winter Palace, and forthcoming from City Lights in fall 2011, Waifs and Strays. He currently co-directs the MFA in Writing Program USF.

March's Culinary Guest is Yasmin Golan of QUEER FOOD FOR LOVE-a nonprofit collaboration of queer artists, activists, and cooks who celebrate the spirit of community by creating food that is body, mind, planet and queer-positive. Yasmin is currently planning a four-course dinner made with medicinal plants and wild foods local to Northern California, which promote pleasure and well-being.
