free, in the Museum Courtyard
The Getty's Fridays Off the 405 series, with music curated by Flavorpill, heats up as Compost Records' Fauna Flash (Christian Prommer and Roland Appel) bring their genre-bending production to the museum's impromptu dance floor, fusing elements of jazz, dub, latin, Brazilian, hip-hop, and soul. Home Video follow with fresh, delightfully moody Warp Records-inspired electronic pop. The galleries in the West Pavilion, meanwhile, stay open late for Public Faces/Private Spaces: Recent Acquisitions, a survey culled from the Getty's ever-expanding photography collection. Rounding things out are the breathtaking juxtapositions of From Friedrich to Richter, an exhibit featuring new works by contemporary great Gerhard Richter and classics from 19th-century master Caspar David Friedrich.
