Installation view of work by Lesley Dill. In large-scale photographic images and constructions, Lesley Dill draws on the complex role that language played in her formative years. Growing up with a paranoid schizophrenic father who had an acute sensitivity to words and their nuanced multiple meanings, Dill, from a young age, was extremely aware of the metaphorical nature of language. Conversely, Dills mother was a speech teacher and drama coach who believed in the precision of communication. An increased appreciation for poetry as an adult gave way to an extensive body of work wherein human forms are comprised of densely composed letters, words, and phrases, suggesting that we are the very words that we say, or, perhaps, a composite of everything we have ever heard. Admission: Admission to the Arts Center is by voluntary donation.
