Featuring the Print Arts Northwest Founders' Portfolio

An exciting new exhibit, " The Art of Contemporary Printmaking," will open on Dec. 10 in the Museum’s Collins Gallery with a special Member preview on Nov. 17. The exhibit, in partnership with Print Arts Northwest will feature the Founders' Portfolio, and include a holiday art sale. The Founder's Portfolio is a collection of seventeen original hand pulled prints by the Founding Members and included Charter Members of the Northwest Print Council.

The exhibit highlights a range of media and printmaking techniques and documents the works of significant premier printmakers of the region including Dr. Gordon Gilkey. Dr. Gilkey was also the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Oregon State University, taught printmaking at Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) and established the Vivian and Gordon Gilkey Center for the Graphic Arts at the Portland Art Museum. Dr. Gilkey's influence in the world of art and printmaking cannot be overstated.

The exhibit marks the beginning of a new creative partnership for the Washington County Museum as the Museum seeks to embrace both local artists and exhibit the broader culture of Washington County. Print Arts Northwest’s mission, like the Washington County Museum, is to educate the public through educational programs and workshops and reflects a very natural partnership for both organizations.
